What is Melanin Network?

Melanin Network is a non-custodial Bitcoin mining pool. Non-custodial means your reward is written into the block itself — 97% to you, 3% to the platform — so it arrives in your own wallet without ever passing through us.

The pool is running and accepting work. Access is granted by review rather than instantly: you verify an email, request access, and an operator approves you. Your connection details then appear in your dashboard.

What does Melanin charge?

97% to the miner, 3% to the platform. The split is written into the coinbase transaction of the block itself, so your share arrives directly and there is nothing to invoice and nothing to withdraw.

Collaborative rewards divide the miner's share purely in proportion to the work each miner contributed — no finder’s bonus, no hidden tier.

Is Melanin custodial? Do you hold my coins?

Melanin never holds your coins or your keys. Your reward is written directly into the coinbase transaction of the block, paid to the wallet address you configure. There is no balance with us to withdraw, and nothing to trust us with.

Solo or Collaborative — which should I pick?

Solo pays only when you personally find a block. That is rare — but when it happens the whole reward is yours.

Collaborative shares each block across everyone who contributed work, in proportion to what they contributed. Smaller amounts, far more often, and no finder’s bonus for whoever got lucky.

Most people start on Collaborative. You can run either, and you can change your mind — it is a setting on your worker, not a commitment.

What hardware do I need?

Whatever you already have. There are three tiers, and your dashboard shows which one fits:

  • Low — a phone, a Raspberry Pi, a NerdMiner. Good for learning how this actually works.
  • High — a Bitaxe or NerdAxe class device.
  • ASIC — an S9 through an S21, or a rack of them.

Being honest about it: small hardware will not earn much. It is a real way to understand mining end to end, not a way to make money.

Can I mine on my phone?

No public Android or iOS mining client is currently available. Mobile is planned as a monitoring companion; it will not perform on-device mining.

Can I mine other coins besides Bitcoin?

Bitcoin only. It is the one public mining project, and the only one described on this site.

Bitcoin is the only public onboarding project; additional protocol support is not part of public onboarding.

How is this different from other Bitcoin mining pools?

  1. Non-custodial by construction, not by promise — your share is written into the block itself, so there is no balance with us to freeze, lose, or have to trust.
  2. Access is reviewed, not open — the pool stays small and deliberate while it grows.
  3. Energy is the starting point — the same team advises on running compute from renewable and surplus generation.

Is Bitcoin mining legal where I live?

In most jurisdictions, yes — including the US, Canada, UK, most of the EU, Australia, Kenya, and the UAE. Some countries restrict or ban it (China, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, others).

Check local regulations before you start. Melanin operates globally but does not advise on individual compliance.

How do I actually start?

  1. Verify an email address and request access.
  2. An operator reviews it — access is granted, not automatic.
  3. Save the Bitcoin address you want paid to, and add a worker for the hardware you have.
  4. Your dashboard shows the exact connection details for that choice.

Your wallet address is your username at the pool. The password field is ignored.

What if my internet is spotty?

Brief drops are normal — your miner reconnects and carries on, and work already submitted still counts. A long outage just means you are not contributing during it. Melanin Click reconnects for you; downloads are released to reviewed accounts while it is still being hardened.

Does Melanin store my data?

We store what verified onboarding and dashboard controls need — an account email and, where supplied, wallet or worker configuration. Opt-in stats publish in the explorer against your own wallet address, and rewards settle on-chain in the block’s coinbase — so there are no payout accounts or balances to hold.

Non-custodial by construction: your share is written into the block's own coinbase, 97/3 to miner and platform. Bitcoin is the public path and the pool is accepting work. Onboarding needs a verified email, private endpoints stay off public pages, and public code is reviewed before release.
